Wal-Mart goes green BIG TIME
Wal-Mart Stores, the world's largest retailer, wants its 60,000 suppliers to find more efficient packaging methods and to reduce the amount of packaging used, starting in 2008, while making the remaining wrapping and shipping materials environmentally friendlier. One in five consumers plans to purchase branded gift cards (a gift card with an American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa brand logo) this holiday season, according a recent poll of household spending habits. The poll, conducted by BK Research, found that branded gift cards were chosen more often as an item on a consumer's shopping list than a branded toy (18%), an iPod(TM) or mp3 player (14%), a computer or laptop (12%) and a game console (7%)(a).
