Best of Breed Application Analysis - Retailer Guides

Throughout our industry, analysts and prognosticators provide studies and research that promote technologies that provide all-encompassing solutions.  

In the real world, however, retailers buy specific software solutions to their most pressing problems.  In the real world, retailers have the budgets to deploy only a few applications per year, not the vendor "big picture" vision solutions being offered.  In the real world, retailers have to interface these new systems with their legacy systems; "rip and replace" is rarely an option.  It is with these "realities" in mind that the "Best of Breed" Retailer Guides have been designed. 

For each core point solution, the reports review the top 5 vendors with strengths, platforms supported, etc.  What makes this research unique, however, is that we leverage our databases to also provide the following: 

  • Key Customers where it is installed (A list of key customers for this application by vendor will be provided.  This will provide an objective basis for reference accounts for retailers, not just those that will rave about them.)

  • The legacy systems to which each of these vendors’ systems have been interfaced.  (ie.  If the report is on labor scheduling, to what POS, Time and Attendance, Payroll, and HR systems has it been interfaced?)

  • Key contacts at similar retailers. (For retail customers only, we will provide up to 5 peer contacts at retailers with similar application architectures to your own so you can contact each other to discuss the success or failure of certain applications and working with particular vendors.)
